As part of a collaborative technical working group with Teck HVC, the Territorial Stewardship Department reviews studies and actions relating to environmental protection and planning on site such as:
- Wildlife health studies.
- Traditional plant studies
- Environmental monitoring programs.
- Site-wide water management plans.
- Biodiversity management plans.
- Environmental management systems.
The CNA and Teck HVC have identified a need for the communities to be informed on the management and operations of tailings storage facilities at the mine. The TSD is supporting the development of a collaborative program that provides increased awareness and participation in tailings management at Teck HVC. This includes identifying opportunities for training, developing informational materials and other forms of community outreach.
